Be it in energy, or time missed with loved ones or health problems due to overwork. It means that you can’t get to what you want without putting in some effort. And bear in mind that it might be quite a significant amount of effort, depending on what it is that you desire.
It does also, however, suggest fidelity and loyalty in relationships.
